LIVERPOOL - October 21, 2011
The Hillside Seminar was important as we used it to plan out the first year of our partnership.

There are six themes which will be investigated using a series of internet-based communications combined with pupil seminars held at the three schools.
In the first twelve months we will investigate
- How we can live and communicate together
- Breaking the barriers
- Healthy Lifesyles
In the following academic year we will look at
- Describing ourselves without words
- Preparing ourselves for work in a European Market
- Describing ourselves to each other
We then outlined in detail how the first three themes were to be investigated
How can we live and communicate together
Each school will create two or three minutes of podcast to be posted on the project website which will investigate outline how our lifestyles might be both different and the same time, rather similar. We will look at factors which influence our pupils, such as music and technology.
This work is to be completed by the end of November.

Healthy Lifestyles
By the end of January 2012, a selection of pupils (and possibly staff) should have taken photos of everything that they eat in a day. These will be uploaded and shared with the other schools
Each school will then discuss pictures and create a report to highlight the similarities and differences.
We will also create a survey, perhaps using pedometers, to allow us to compare activity rates between schools, but also between different groups such as males and females.

Breaking the barriers
This will take the form of pupils communicating to each other through online chats to find out more about each other’s lifestyles.
Each school will have about 14 groups of pupils. Each group will communicate with a group from another school, completing a work sheet of about 20 questions to find out more about each other.
This first session will take place Monday 30th January 2012 between 09.00 and 10.00 UK time.
On the following week (6th February) at the same time, the pupils will create a poem about their findings from the previous week’s conversation.
This poem will then be put onto a banner together with logos from the 3 schools.
Photos are to be taken of the pupils working and posted online during these times so that the pupils can see each other.
There is a possibility of using Survey Monkey to produce the questionnaire for the first chat and then collate the results.

Technical considerations
As well as looking at the themes, we also looked at how we can communicate and share our work. We decided that our work would be posted on a project website created on, and hosted by, weebly.com
All pupil-to-pupil communication will take place using the e-twinning website.
